This Vertical Machining Center weighs 15,400 lbs. (7000 kg.).
This machine has rectangular square box ways that provide contact over a large

surface area for maximum vibration damping and rigidity.  The box ways are

hardened and ground. They are covered with virtually friction-free Turcite(r)

liners on all gibs and way surfaces. And with full length lubrication over the

way surfaces it preserves accuracy and extends machine life by eliminating

machine stick slip.

The SINUMERIK 828D is a panel-based CNC, for demanding milling machines

typical for the jobshop. It combines CNC, PLC, operating and axis control

functions into one compact unit.

With the ShopMill sequence programming the SINUMERIK 828D boasts the most

straightforward CNC program editor in the word. Processes such as drilling,

centering, grooving, or pocket milling are displayed in the form of steps with

graphical representations of the processes.

The pairing of the DIN/ISO language statements with CNC high level language

elements provides maximum in flexibility and guarantees minimal machine time. 

In addition, the SINUMERIK 828D can understand other CNC programs form other

manufactures due to the online ISO dialect interpreter.

The simulation feature guarantees maximum process stability because it uses

the actual geometrical data of the tools installed.  The user can zoom in to

the smallest corners of the simulation without having to restart it.  In

addition, the simulation can be interrupted any time and controlled in terms

of speed.  As a result, even the smallest detail is not overlooked.

For every text box on the operating screens the SINUMERIK 828D automatically

provides help in the form of cursor text.  The SINUMERIK 828D has a complete

help system for more detailed information, just like a PC at home.
